John Donald Smith II, born in Martinez CA, April 17, 1949 passed on January 24, 2017 at Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston TX. He attended Alhambra High School and Diablo Valley College, and lived in Martinez until he retired from Union Oil in Rodeo California when he moved to Spring TX.  He was an Army Vietnam veteran, Bronze Star and Purple Heart recipient. He is survived by wife Deborah (Debbie) Laudenslager Smith, brother Sherwood Smith, sisters Sharon Dick and Renee Fee, son John A. Smith, grandson Michael Smith, and granddaughter Elizabeth Smith. Memorial services being held on January 28 at 11:00 AM at the LDS church on Kleinwood Dr with a viewing starting at 9:30 AM. Burial services will be held February 1 at 11:30 AM at the Houston National Cemetery on Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston TX.
