John Michael Reist Aka Mike, aka FatCat, born 2/25/1949 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Houston, TX, weighing 8lbs 4oz. He grew up in Tomball, living on Cherry Street and remained in Tomball most of his life. John Michael was very proud to be an Army Veteran, serving his country. Part of his service was in Army Intelligence. Mike worked at Southern Pacific Railroad as a switchman, and then later in life in Real Estate.
Survivors are twins Mandy Nicole and Michael Ross Reist, 2 sisters Gloria Steglich Holland, TX and Carolyn Rydbom Rosharon, TX,  2 nieces Cari Rydbom and Cathi Whaley, 1 nephew Charles Steven Janke, 3 great nieces Mikayla Torres (Namesake), Jenna Janke and Marielena Smith-Rydbom and 2 great nephews Matt Steven Janke and Ben Whaley. Mike was loved by his family very much.  We always enjoyed seeing his big, welcoming smile.  Mike had so many friends and distant family members that he always remembered to keep in touch with.  Mike was larger than life, a wonderful person with a heart of gold. He always put a smile on your face when you were around him.
John Michael passed away Thursday, 2/7/2019, at 8:45pm at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, TX.
