John Mathias Pearson was called to his eternal home on December 1, 2021, just shy of his 83 ^rd birthday. John was born on December 20, 1938, in Tyler, Minnesota to Matts and Valborg Pearson. He was the oldest of four children, Jim, Jo Ellen and Jerome. John grew up in southwestern Minnesota but left the area shortly after high school. John had many and varied careers over the years including accordion teacher, Air Force Staff Sergeant, insurance salesman, photographer, camera store manager, volunteer organist, bookkeeper, restaurateur, traveling salesman, puppeteer and musician/entertainer. He graduated with a business administration degree from Angelo State University in 1972.

John married Areti "Toula" Fantaoutsaki on October 5, 1968, in San Angelo, TX. They celebrated over 53 faithful years together, and had two children, Thomas "Tom" Pearson and Crystal Pearson McCartney.  They were most joyful not only because of their closeness as a family, but also because of their shared faith that bound them together as brothers and sisters in Christ. They relocated from San Angelo to Cypress, TX in 2004 to be closer to their children.

John was an organ enthusiast, visiting pipe organs while stationed in Europe and later while stateside. He hand-built an electronic replica theatre organ over the course of several years, and somehow managed to fit four organs in his music room at home. It was always fun to watch his hands and feet tap out tunes from hymns to polkas.

John had a big personality, a zest for life and a "can-do" attitude. Everyone who met him couldn't help but like him. He was positive in his outlook and always kept things in their proper perspective. He was devoted to his Savior Jesus Christ, his wife, his children and his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and both brothers. He is survived by his wife Toula, son Tom, daughter Crystal and husband Chad McCartney, grandchildren Andrew, Ashlyn and Luke McCartney, sister Jo and husband Jerry Anderson, sisters-in-law Anna Baker, Marika Harris, Sophia Stover and Eva and husband Bill Dooley, and numerous nieces and nephews.

While John's life on Earth is over and we will miss him, we know that he made the most important decision that must be made in this earthly life: to trust in Jesus for the redemption of his soul. Because he made that decision, we know he is in a place that is better beyond measure, and we will see him again!
