John C Miller was born in 1948 to John and Edna Miller of Mobile, Alabama. He died peacefully at his home in Spring, TX beside his garden, with wife and children at his side and a Christmas tree at his feet. After decades of powerful witness for Christ, he died in the hour of Divine Mercy as prayers were sung. The day was rich in blessings.
John was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother Greg. He is survived by his wife Cathy, by his children — Kim, Sean and Jennifer, Aaron and Sarah, Mary and Keegan, and Rachel — by his grandchildren — Lucas, Landon, Samuel, Savannah, Kamden, Sadie, and Liam — by his brother Terry, and by a wealth of other family and friends.
John (or "Johnny") had a keen intellect and boundless curiosity. He once read a set of encyclopedias cover-to-cover. Silent study and reflection remained a favorite pastime, along with enjoyment of novels, movies, sports, friendly conversation, and admiration of nature. He had a teaching spirit and rascal's humor. A passionate geologist, John took his family on many roadtrips to parks and museums. Impromptu lectures were common.
From his father's store to Navy electrician to senior petroleum geologist, John worked with discipline and dedication. He assisted many organizations and donated his time to care of the elderly and the disabled. He educated and accompanied many people into Christ's church, leaving behind a living legacy of faithful community.
John taught his children unconditional loyalty, endless hope, mercy, generosity, humility, reverence, and thirst for wisdom. He taught them to eagerly adopt friends and neighbors in lifelong commitment. Thus, he leaves behind an ever growing family who will miss him dearly.
