JOHN MAY, 56

On Tuesday, April 2nd, 2019 John Martin May went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

John was born on May 2, 1962 in Ossowo, Michigan to Thomas "Tom" and Rosila "Sally" May. John was the second of six boys. He left Michigan in 1980 to pursue a career in grocery in Houston, Texas.

On January 23, 1988, John and Linda were married in Nassau, Bahamas. They raised their three children, Erin, Nicole and Travis on the Northwest side of Houston for more than 17 years.

After 22 years with Randalls Grocery Story, John accepted a position with HEB in 2003. John's genuine compassion and care for people was felt by the countless number of lives who came in contact with him daily at HEB, Bunker Hill. His unrelenting need to show people how valuable they are, how much potential they possess and how responsible they are to use that potential was often displayed in his confident interjection into their lives. His compulsion to serve the needs of his customers and partners at HEB played out in his determined ability to recognize and resolve an expectation. He welcomed a challenge to make HEB, Bunker Hill bigger, better and notable for the people in his community.

His larger-than-life personality ensured he would never meet a stranger. He made friends and touched lives everywhere he went. His compulsion to generously give to anyone who had need was most often done with anonymity, as he was aware that it was given to him to be shared with others.

John's passions were his wife, his children, his grandchildren, his extended family, his best friend, Mike, golf, Astros baseball, his customers, and his partners at HEB.

He left his mark on this world by "doing good works, which God had prepared in advance" for him to do. [Ephesians 2:10] He will be deeply missed by so many.

John is survived by his wife, Linda, his daughter Erin and husband Harrison, his daughter Nicole and husband Stephen, his son John Travis and his wife Bryanna, his grandsons Kaeden and Kellan, his granddaughters Kennedy and Peyton, his mother Rosila [Sally] May, his brothers Tom, Steve and his wife Barbara, Darin and his wife Shea, Kevin and his wife Shelley, Don and his wife Ellen, and his many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas "Tom" May, paternal grandparents, John and Mable May, and maternal grandparents Lavern and Henrietta Birkmeier.

His service will be held at Klein Funeral Home 16131 Champions Forest Drive, Monday, April 8, 2019 at 10:00 AM. Visitation will be Sunday, April 7, 2019 from 5:00-8:00 PM.
