John (Johnny) Edmund Lewis, Jr., 72 of Spring, Texas, walked into the loving arms of his Savior, Jesus, on Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023. The son of John and Cathryn Ferguson Lewis. John was born in Henrietta, Texas on March 26, 1951. He attended Olton Schools from elementary to high school in Olton, Texas. Johnny was active in sports, especially football and golf. As quarterback of the OHS Mustangs, he gained the friendship of his front line. Those men became lifelong friends, always having "his back". Sports of all kind continued to be a part of his life, both through supporting his sons in their activities and playing golf. In later years, watching the seasons of football, basketball (college) and golf on television or attending were constant! Attending all of his sons' and his granddaughters' activities brought great pride and happiness throughout his life.

John dated and married his high school sweetheart, Sunya Sorley on June 2, 1972 in Olton, Texas. His most precious joys were the birth and life of his two sons, Trent and Todd of Spring, Texas. Then, an added bonus, were his three granddaughters, Abby, Laney and Gracie Lewis.

He attended and graduated from Baylor University in 1973 with a BA in Marketing and moved to Houston shortly after graduation. There in Houston, he began his career in oilfield equipment sales with Welsco Co. for 15 years. In 1989, upon moving to Spring, Texas, his career path changed to the direction of natural gas trading, which he continued for 28 years until his retirement in March 2017. John loved the fast and furious life of natural gas trading and appreciated the close friendships that developed.

John was a "Christ Follower" and a member of Wilcrest Baptist Church in Alief until 1990, then moved his membership to Spring Baptist Church, Spring, Texas.

John was preceded in death by his mother and father, Cathryn and John Lewis, and his sister, Joanna Lewis Gassiott. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sunya; sons Trent (wife Amy) and son, Todd; granddaughters; Abby, Laney and Gracie Lewis of Spring, Texas; his sister, Elaine Lewis Holliman, of Rockdale, Texas. John's extended family is almost as numerous as the stars, with the names of Brooks, Kelley, Holliman and Gassiott families.
