John F. Kenney, Sr. passed away peacefully on Monday, May 1, at Methodist Hospital Willowbrook at the age of 76. John was born on July 13, 1940 in Philadelphia, Pa. to Irish immigrant parents, John and Mary Kenney. He was a proud graduate of Roman Catholic High School, the oldest free Catholic High School in the country and enjoyed attending the annual Communion Breakfast sponsored by the Alumni. .He received his BS degree from LaSalle University and his MBA from Drexel University. In 1966 he married Dot Crenny and together they raised their three children, John Jr., Amy, and Maureen. John was a dedicated ExxonMobil employee for many years and it was Exxon that transferred the family from Philadelphia to Houston in 1978.

John loved his family, his Catholic Faith, singing in the choir at Christ the Good Shepherd Catholic Church and the many friends he made over the years. John never met a stranger and loved talking to anyone who would listen. He kissed the Blarney Stone on his first visit to Ireland and the rest is history.

John is survived by his wife of 50 years Dot Crenny Kenney, his son John Francis Kenney, Jr., daughter Amy Kenney and her husband Jeff Jeansonne and Maureen Kenney-Ashley and her husband Earl Ashley. His grandchildren Clayton and Kayla Ashley, Kinsey, John Eamon and Owen Jeansonne loved their grandfather deeply and will miss his hugs. John is also survived by his sister Alice Reed and her husband Fred and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 P.M. on Thursday, May 4, at Klein Funeral Home Champions and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 5, at Christ the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 18511 Klein Church Road, Spring TX at 10:00 A.M. A reception will be held in the Social Hall following the Mass. Interment will be at 1:30 P.M. at Klein Memorial Park 9714, FM 2920, Tomball TX.
