?John Karpiuk, 60, passed away with family and loved ones by his side on December 24, 2016, near his home at St. Luke's Hospital in Houston, TX. He was a devoted husband to Canan Karpiuk and father to his three sons, John (34), Alex (31), and Nicholas (27) Karpiuk. Canan and John shared 36 years of a loving marriage together.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, he was the son of Nancy and John Karpiuk. He is survived by his sisters, Susan Karpiuk (Skip Balga) and Sharon Tanner (Ray); and nieces, Kate Chase and Kris Tanner. He will be missed by his grandchildren, Melodie and Logan Karpiuk. His grandchildren gave him true happiness and joy, especially in his later years. Arkadas I, Arkadas II, Carbos, Hemi, Bosco, and Cuda were his beloved dogs over the years.
He attended Loyola University for his bachelor's degree in Political Science. He furthered his studies and gained a Master's degree (MBA) from Bosphorus University in the field of Business Management. He was very successful in his professional career excelling at whatever position he held, working as a Director for Compaq, DHL, and National Oil Well Varco. He was most successful in his role as a husband and father.
Growing up, John was well traveled. He lived in Boston, Indiana, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Houston, Holland, London, Bahamas, Turkey, Miami, and Spring, TX, among others. Being so well traveled, John developed a personality that had positive influences from many diverse cultures. He was also able to speak French, Dutch, Turkish, and English.
He was a proud member of Champion Forest Baptist Church and Metropolitan Baptist Church. He was active in several men's ministries and Bible study groups. Fellowship and devotion were a big part of his life. He enjoyed playing competition volleyball and tennis. He enjoyed attending just about any sports event there was, that is when his children were playing, of course. He made sure they were all able to play any sport they desired, and even with his hectic work schedule, he was sure to always be on the sideline cheering them on. Not only did he never miss a game, scout meeting, play, art show, or swim meet, he was always the first to volunteer for Den Leader, Head Timer, Coach, or any other spot that needed to be filled.
He loved anything on the local Christian radio station and 70's rock-n-roll. John will be remembered for his generosity and constant selflessness. He consistently put his family and friends' needs above his own. He was kind, selfless, funny, strong, faithful, and honest.
Friends are welcome to visit with the family from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 29, at Klein Funeral Home, 16131 Champion Forest Drive, Spring, TX 77379. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 30, at Champion Forest Baptist Church, 15555 Stuebner Airline Road, Houston, TX 77069. A committal service will take place at 1 p.m. Friday at Klein Memorial Park, FM 2920, Tomball.
