John Matthew Janak, born in Houston, Texas on September 9, 1957, passed peacefully to fish with our Lord on August 1, 2023. He lived in Spring, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Janak.
John was known for his love of the outdoors. His happy place was his farm in La Grange. An avid hunter, fisherman, and Astros fan, the only thing that eclipsed his love of sportsmanship was his love for his Lord, his family, and his fellow mankind. John was an active parishioner at St. James Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus, a devoted husband, and a proud uncle and papa. He would bend over backwards for anyone who needed a helping hand.
John met the love of his life, Ann, and they were married May 20, 2017. He retired from Spring Glass after 30 years. He waited for Ann to retire (in June of 2023), so they could spend time together traveling and cheering for the Astros. He bragged to Ann all the time about how proud he was of Candace and her accomplishments.
John also loved to talk! He spent hours on the phone with family and friends, keeping up with what everyone had going on, bragging about his niece and her family or his daughters and theirs. He always said he wasn't a fan of baked goods, but if his Ann made it, he just had to have a sample… or two or three!
John is survived by his loving wife, Ann Mary Janak; his daughters, Ashley Stack and husband Jeremy, Kathryn Hanson and husband Joshua, and Marissa Shanley and husband Jake; grandchildren, Austin Stack, Braeden Stack, Joshua Hanson, Jr., Addison Hanson, Aria Hanson, Kassidy Hanson, and the Shanley twins due in January; sister, Mary Ann Cauthern and brother-in-law, Rusty Cauthern; nephew, Blake Hoelscher; great-nephew, Ramsey Hoelscher; great-niece, Kennedy Hoelscher; and his beloved dog, Hunter.

John was so very proud of his only niece, Candace, and all of her accomplishments.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .
