John A. Fowler went to be with his Heavenly Father March 1, 2021. He passed away peacefully with his wife Lillie Fay "Sissy" by his side in Tomball, Texas, where he had resided for the last 35 years. John A. was a devoted husband, father, and "Pampa". He will be remembered for how much he loved his family, and he will be missed by many people in his community.

John A. was born in Crockett, Texas, on November 15, 1934, and grew up in Rome, Georgia, where he attended Johnson High School. From a very young age, he developed a strong work ethic and had a natural aptitude for learning and fixing things. As soon as he could, he enlisted in the Navy and proudly served his country in the Korean War aboard the USS Missouri.

After he left the Navy, John A. went to Houston to visit family on what was meant to be a week-long trip. While there, his sister introduced him to Sissy, and the rest as they say, is history. John A. stayed in Houston and the two were married on April 26, 1957. They built a beautiful family together during their nearly 64-year marriage. John A. was a good provider and a loving and proud father who taught his sons many things, including to love the Lord. John A. and Sissy were inseparable, always holding hands and spending time together. They had a very happy marriage, and their loving relationship was an inspiration to many.

He spent 20 years in the elevator industry and retired when he was 55. In retirement, John A. enjoyed going on "drive abouts" around southeastern Texas, watching deer and appreciating nature with Sissy, spending time with his family, cuddling up at home in his "nest", and visiting his grandchildren. John A. was a Mason for over 50 years and was a Member of The Northwest Masonic Lodge No. 1434. He had a stubborn streak that some might describe as "ornery", but his smile could light up the room, even in his final days.

John A. is survived by his beloved wife Sissy; his sons John Fowler and wife Theresa of Spring, Texas, and Mark Fowler and wife Rhonda of Iola, Texas; grandchildren Sharon Fowler of Conroe, Texas, Melissa Fowler of Washington, DC, Mark Fowler II of Chicago, Illinois, Haley Baldwin and husband Bryan of Denton, Texas, and Hannah Harclerode and husband Michael of Dayton, Texas; great-grandchildren Eliana and Lucy Baldwin; sister Eleanor (Minshew) Risner; and other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother Margaret Grace (Stephens) Minshew and siblings Calvin Fowler, Cleon Fowler, Geraldean Fowler, Norman Fowler, and Peggy Parker.

A visitation will be held Monday, March 8 from 5:00pm – 8:00pm at Klein Funeral Home in Tomball, 1400 W Main St, Tomball, TX 77375. Burial will be Tuesday, March 9 at 9:30am, at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038.

In lieu of flowers, donations to honor John A. may be made to the Shriner's Hospitals for Children or to the charity of your choice.
