John Richard Fielding died peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.

John was born in New Orleans on March 22, 1932 to Frank and Mary (Mull) Fielding.  He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Claire Thiberville Fielding, his children John Richard Fielding Jr., wife Kandace, Susan M. Fielding, husband William, Claire L. Foy, Glenn A. Fielding, wife Joyce and Steven Fielding, wife Valerie.  He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Seth, Luke, Jodi, Jason, Joshua, Jeremy, Sam, Aidan, Lily, Ben, and Amanda and his great grandson, Case.

John served proudly in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War, was wounded and received a Purple Heart.  He then attended and graduated from Tulane University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.  He served as a salesman until retiring from ECI in Baton Rouge in 2010.

John and his wife Claire were members of St Thomas More Catholic community and then St Patrick Catholic community until they moved to Texas in 2017.  John enjoyed fishing and woodworking.  He was also a good friend of Bill Wilson.

The family will receive friends from 10-10:30am and a rosary will be said at 10:30am at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, 11507 Huffmeister Rd, Houston, Tx. Monday, December 17, 2018 followed by a funeral Mass at 11am.  Then John will be taken to his final resting place in Klein Memorial Park, 14711 Cypress North Houston, Cypress, Tx.
