John Terrell Falkenbury, 59, passed away unexpectedly on September 28, 2025 in Houston, Texas, the city where he was born on May 25, 1966. A lifelong Texan, he was a resident of Montgomery at the time of his passing.  His sudden departure marks the loss of a truly exceptional man whose presence impacted all who had the privilege of knowing him.

John built a long and accomplished career in the oil and gas industry, specializing in electrical automation controls. His expertise in this field took him offshore around the globe, where he applied his technical brilliance with precision and dedication. He was not only a skilled professional but also a wise mentor and guiding force to many. Always patient, always willing to lend a hand or share his hard-earned wisdom without hesitation.

To those who knew him best, John was more than just kind or charitable, he was unforgettable. Known for his infectious personality, he was also a perpetual jokester who drew people in and kept them entertained with his good humor and quick wit. He also had a remarkable ability for having just the right tool for any job, earning him a reputation as someone you could always count on no matter the situation.

John's enthusiasms were a testament to his vibrant spirit. He found great joy in flying large radio-controlled airplanes, a hobby he loved sharing with others. He built many special friendships as a long time member of the Bayou City Flyers and Space City RC Clubs and even earned a place on the highly selective Texas Warbird Thunder team.

He cherished time spent RVing at various state parks and campgrounds, especially the Texas Renaissance Festival. There he would transform into a kilted cowboy or a notorious pirate. His larger-than-life personality made him a natural fit where he connected with many kindred spirits. His love for outdoor cooking also helped him draw people together for food, fun and camaraderie in camp.

Animals held a special place in John's heart all of his life. He helped his wife foster numerous shelter dogs for Rescued Pets Movement when they lived closer to Houston. He adored his current fur kids: Hank, Willie, Punkin, Munkie & Pixie. His life was filled with their companionship and unconditional love. There is an unmistakable sadness among them, as they do not understand where he has gone. The dogs continue to look out the windows for their Daddy and best friend to come back home.

John is survived by his devoted wife of 24 years, Kathy Proske Falkenbury; his mother, Joanne Falkenbury Draper; sisters Vicki Christie and Suzanne King; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who adored their fun-loving uncle.

Our family is shattered by this loss. A great light has gone out, and the silence where his laughter used to be is deafening. We take comfort in knowing that his legacy will live on through the memories we hold dear. May we honor him by living life with the same boldness, kindness and joy that he so effortlessly shared every day.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 24th at 11am at River Pointe Church (Lakeside Building), 21000 Southwest Freeway, Richmond, TX 77469.
