John Joseph Everhart Jr. was born in New Kensington, PA on April 28, 1954, to John and Agnes Everhart. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, November 28, 2016 at the age of 62.

John spent his formative years in New Kensington schools where he developed his love of sports through playing football. Upon graduation from Franklin Regional High School, he sought out sports opportunities through any avenue: church leagues, pick-up games, and community organizations. John held a Bachelors in Chemistry from Pittsburgh University with a minor in Jazz. He rapidly climbed the ranks in his career due to his integrity in all exchanges, wit, wisdom, and passion. John began his career by putting his BS in Chemistry to work at PPG in the paint research and development department. He soon became a salesman and quickly advanced and spent 11 years as Director of Sales and Marketing for Foxboro. He spent 16 years in leadership for Emerson Electric – first as Vice President of Sales and Marketing and then as President of Emerson's Rosemount Analytical Division.

His final job was as Sales and Marketing Manager of Horiba for a little over four years. John remembered everyone he ever worked for or with in detail and no one soon forgot their interactions with him. He was proud to see his son pursue a career in the same industry.

Despite the fact that John's work was important to him, it paled in comparison to his devotion and love for his family and friends. John ensured his ongoing involvement in his son's sports by coaching a number of Jay's baseball teams. John remained a passionate Steelers fan his entire life and attended two Steelers Super Bowl victories-one with Jay. John played in his Fantasy Football league for 25 years, often recruiting friends and family who would generally lose to John's football prowess.

"Captain of Fun", John, coordinated every detail of his daughter Lauren's elaborate wedding, complete with having the sugar on the rim of the sorbet glasses died to match the bridesmaid dresses and commandeering a horse drawn carriage ride to take the couple to their hotel following the ceremony. He never let his love and pride in Lauren be questioned.

John was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. John was preceded in death by his son John 'Jay' Joseph Everhart, III. He is survived by his parents John and Agnes Everhart, wife of 42 years, Becky Lynn Griepp Everhart, his daughter Lauren Victoria Everhart Zavala, his son-in-law Daniel C. Zavala, and his grandchildren Alden Joseph Zavala and Audrey Grace Zavala. John had a great heritage and left an amazing legacy. He tried to always honor the underdog by pursuing his favorite scripture: James 1:27 "Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you." John gave quietly and freely to honor God and man.

In his quest to aid the less fortunate, John prepared and served monthly meals for the homeless through Parkside Church in Ohio. John was recruited by his children to guest DJ for The Arc of Greater Houston's monthly dances – an organization that assists individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities – and he developed a heart for these individuals and took over as head DJ after his son passed.

John was extraordinarily skilled in the art of negotiation and would always get an added bonus thrown into a deal after the amount of money had already been settled. Whether he was in China shopping for accessories for his wife and daughter, purchasing a car, or making a business transaction, John loved the thrill of earning a deal. Even more exciting than the deal was a good story he could tell about the negotiation.

In the last three years of his life, John's greatest joy was playing with his grandchildren. John, The Big Kawhuna, Dad, Daddy, and PopPop will be greatly missed on this earth.

Visitation to be held from 6-8pm Friday, December 2, 2016 at Klein Funeral Home, 1400 W. Main Street, Tomball, TX 77375. Funeral Service will be held at 10am, Saturday, December 3, 2016 at the chapel of Klein Funeral Home in Tomball. Interment will follow at Klein Memorial Park SH 249. For those desiring, memorials may be made to the Christ Family Church building fund.
