John Dale Edinburgh, 77, passed away peacefully at home while surrounded by family and friends on October 30, 2022. John was a sixth generation Texan and direct descendant of Christopher Columbus Edinburgh, one of the first families of Walker County, Texas, and a resident of Hunters Valley in Houston, Texas.

He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, on June 3, 1945. As a young child, he moved to Houston, Texas, where he graduated from Jones High School. John, otherwise known as Pops, G-Ramps, and JohnE, attended the University of Houston and then stayed and shared his knowledge of Electrical Technology as an instructor. Among other work, he had a long and prosperous career as a software developer in the energy industry, including Western Atlas and Baker Hughes.

John was a man of many hobbies. His passion and his teacher's heart for these hobbies created many new generations of photographers, computer scientists, motorcycle enthusiasts, hikers, campers, explorers, beekeepers, and inventors. He held a U.S. Patent for Method and Apparatus for Measuring Tension in an Elastic Surface. In other words, his design allowed tension to be tested on one side of a tennis racket instead of two.

John loved to spend time researching his family history, traveling the country via his Honda Goldwing, and enjoying the many vacations with his wife and family. But his very special time of the year was the September celebration of life for his deceased brothers, parents, and extended family held at the Falba Cemetery, where he will be interred.

John is preceded in death by his mother, Viola Maikoetter; his father, Dean Edinburgh; his brothers, Thomas Edinburgh and James Edinburgh; his stepson, Richard Michael McBride; and his grandson, Ryan Bishop Kerr.

John is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Stewart Edinburgh; his son, Michael Edinburgh and his lovely wife Jules; his red-headed stepchildren, Melissa DeGuibert and her husband Mike, and Jon McBride II and his wife Christie; his other daughter Lynn Miller and her husband Brad; his grandchildren, Lauren Edinburgh, Logan Edinburgh, Collin Kerr and wife Lydia, Austin Kerr and wife Keeley, Kendall Kerr, Catherine McBride, Megan Miller, Richard Miller, Bailey Miller; and his great-grandson Kieran Kerr; his brother from another mother, Albert Lincoln; and many extended and honorary family members and friends across the Lone Star State.

The family appreciates the outpouring of love and support, and your time and love is what we most cherish. The family will receive visitors at 9 a.m. and services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 7, 2022, at Klein Champion Forest Funeral Home, 16131 Champion Forest Drive, in Spring, Texas. All are welcome. John Edinburgh will be interred at the Falba family cemetery in Huntsville, Texas, at 2pm. Donations to MD Anderson Cancer Research, as you wish, are also welcome. Now that John is in heaven, we are certain that all the mayonnaise has been replaced with Miracle Whip.
