John Paul Burris, Jr., son John Paul Burris Senior and Annie Kathleen was born November 12th, 1942 in San Francisco, California. He was proceeded in death by both of his beloved parents, his infant son John Paul Burris III and his sister Katherine Ann Waddell.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Teresita Andales Burris; daughter, Kathleen Elizabeth Wiggins and her husband, James Micah Wiggins; and his sisters, Barbara Johnson and Joanie Spoamer. His grandchildren: Johnathon James Wiggins; Emily Grace Bettis and her husband, Hunter Austin Bettis; Joshua Micah Wiggins; and great grandson Charles Hunter Bettis.

John passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 23, 2026 in Houston, Texas.

He was a man defined by his giving spirit and genuine desire to help others. He lived with purpose, always dedicating himself fully to whatever he set his mind to. His strength of character, kindness, and steady presence made a lasting impact on those who knew him.

He proudly served his country for 28 years in the United States Marine Corp, embodying honor, discipline, and commitment throughout his distinguished service. Following his military career, John continued his dedication to hard work and excellence, retiring after more than 20 years with McDonnell Douglas/Boeing as an Electrical Aviation Job Control Supervisor overseas.

Beyond his work and service, John found great joy in the simple and adventurous moments of life. He thoroughly enjoyed hunting, scuba diving, and camping.

For 47 years of marriage, John devoted himself to caring for his wife Terry. We are grateful that he has left behind a remarkable legacy of service, love, and unwavering dedication to those around him. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory lives on in the lives he has touched, the service he has given, and the memories that will forever be held close by his loving wife and family.

Of everything attained by John Burris, the most precious of them all was in his last weeks of life he expressed a desire and faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. After a long life of willful denial of Christ's existence and Lordship, God in his mercy and abounding grace softened his heart and opened his eyes to a truth he once resisted. Glory be to our kind Father in Heaven for this confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
