John Leonard Berry, age 76, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2023, at his home surrounded by loving family. John was born on September 25, 1946, in Houston, Texas to Ben Leslie Berry and Mary Louise (O'Connor) Berry.

After graduating from Strake Jesuit High School in Houston, John attended Texas A & I University and earned a bachelor's degree in Marketing and Finance. John honorably served in the U.S. Air Force as a 1st Lieutenant from 1971 to 1975. He spent a majority of his career working in the pool and decking industry as the owner of Berry Pool Company.

Having grown up in a large family, nothing meant more to him than spending time with his siblings and children. He relished swimming in the pool, playing sports, cheering on his kids as they competed, going to Astros games, running marathons, making milkshakes, listening to music from George Strait to ZZ Top, going out dancing, and spending time at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.  John always appreciated the quality time he had with everyone he surrounded himself with. From a young age, John especially enjoyed going to the Flying Bull Ranch to swim in the lake, go down the trolly, go shooting, work on the ranch, or play night games.  This love was shared with his children, and they spent many weekends there. He created countless memories and cherished every moment. Swimming pool design was a love of his and he enjoyed creating the best outdoor living areas for his clients.   He was a lifetime rodeo committee member, President of the National Swimming Pool Association and active member for many years, and a member of the Greater Houston Home Builders.

John is survived by his former spouses Rosanne Berry and Christine Berry; beloved children Deborah (Mike) Gary, John (Courtney) Berry, Matthew (Kellie) Berry, Cara (Charles Griffin) Berry, and Joseph Berry; step-children Emma Loo, Joshua Loo, and Jordan Loo; his wonderful grandchildren Taylor, Kate, Caleb, Alex, Cecilia, Jameson, Jack, and Ben; and his siblings, Mike (Charlotte) Berry, Joe Berry, Ben (Kelly) Berry, Marilyn (Jack) Belew, Tim (Ellen) Berry, Mary Berry, Holly (Rick) Woodard. He is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Berry and Mary Louise Berry, as well as his brothers Pat Berry and Chris Berry, and his child Catherine Berry.

His children would like to express, a deep appreciation to Rosanne who cared for her life-long friend and their father, John, for the last two and a half years of his life.

Relatives and friends are invited on July 6, 2023, for visitation from 5:00 – 6:30 pm followed by a vigil prayer service and rosary (for those that wish to join) at Klein Funeral Home – Cy-Fair – Northwest, 9719 Wortham Blvd, Houston, TX 77095.  .

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on July 7, 2023, at 10:30 am at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 6646 Addicks Satsuma Road, Houston, TX 77095.

Military burial with honors will follow at 12:45 pm, at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038.
