Johanna Mary (Kuruc) Augustine, 97, of Houston, Texas passed away on December 21, 2021 at Morada Assisted Living in Houston, Texas where she had lived since 2012. Born on July 15, 1924, in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, Johanna was the daughter of John and Anna (Rentko) Kuruc.
Johanna was raised in Nanticoke where she attended the former St. Joseph's Parish School. She later graduated from the former Nanticoke High School in 1942. She then began working at the Duplan facility in Nanticoke. She later married the love of her life, Adam (Clark) Augustine, in 1950. She moved to New York City with him and later to Staten Island in 1958. After their son Lloyd left to attend Notre Dame University she began working for the Federal Reserve Bank in NYC until her retirement.
In addition to her parents, John and Anna Kuruc, Johanna was preceded in death by her husband, Adam, their son Lloyd, and her brother, Frank. She is survived by her sister Monica Locke, Houston, Texas and her brother, John Kurtz, Princeton, New Jersey and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the many different Morada staff members who showed Johanna such compassion and love over the years. We also thank the staff of Brookdale Hospice for their loving compassionate care at the end of her life as well.
