Obituary

Joe Anthony Villarreal was called home to be with our Lord on February 24, 2026, at the age of 59. He was born on October 13, 1966, in Beeville, Texas, and grew up in Tomball, Texas.

Joe was the kind of person whose presence made people feel seen, cared for, and comforted. He carried a gentle spirit and a resilient heart, always putting others before himself. His kindness came naturally, and his compassion touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Joe began his career in respiratory therapy in Houston, Texas, where he first discovered his calling to care for others. He later continued his work in Seattle, Washington, serving patients as a respiratory therapist at EvergreenHealth Medical Center. He deeply loved his work and the colleagues who became like family to him. Joe took great pride in helping people during some of the most difficult moments of their lives, and his patients were blessed by his calm presence and caring heart.

He was preceded in death by his father, Reynaldo C. Villarreal.

Joe leaves behind a family who loved him deeply and will carry his memory in their hearts forever. He is survived by his husband, Arnel A. Villarreal; his loving mother, Dora H. Villarreal; his big sister, Serafina (Sera) Villarreal; and his three younger brothers, Reynaldo Villarreal Jr. and wife Grace, Gabriel Villarreal and wife Cheryl, and Mateo Villarreal and wife Melody. He is also lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, who brought him great pride and joy.

Though Joe's time here feels far too short, the love he gave so freely will continue to live on in the lives he touched. He will be remembered for his gentle heart, his compassion for others, and the joy and laughter he shared with everyone around him.
