Joann Marie Vaught Toland, 91, passed away on December 24,2023 in Baytown, Texas. She was born on June 14, 1932 at home in Houston to Inez Virgie Frazier Vaught and Dwight L. Vaught.

She is predeceased by her parents, her husband Wallace W. Toland, and their son Dwayne Alan Toland. She is survived by her children Denise Smesny (Edwin) of Cove, Debbie Kersten of Conroe, Dwight Toland of Lake Charles, and Daren Toland (Mary) of San Antonio. Grandchildren include Charla McCrory, Breck Leago, Rick Kersten, Chris Kersten, Kristina Thomas, Diana Toland, Amanda Toland, Alicia Necessary, and Melissa Bentz. She is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her sister, Barbara June Vaught, her dear cousin, Nelda Jones Childress, and her best friend of more than 70 years, Fairlene Collins.

Wallace and Joann lived in St. Albans, Vermont for three years while he served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict, then lived in the North Houston area for the remainder of their lives.  Joann retired from the Klein School district after working at both Klein and Klein Oak High Schools where she was the financial secretary at both campuses. In addition, she and Wallace supported all Klein Athletics, the band and drill team, as well as the choral and drama departments. They were also active in Spring-Klein Baseball.
