Obituary

Joan Ann Boudreaux Stephens, of Houston, Texas, was born on August 22, 1933, and passed away on May 20, 2023. She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Anna May Boudreaux, and brothers, James Abraham Wilson and John Milton Shelvin.

Joan Ann is survived by her sons, Jarrett Stephens, Jr. (Marilyn), Vincent Stephens (Roxanne), Tracy Stephens (Carolyn), and Terrence Stephens (Carlene); sisters, Mary Ann Harrison, Dolores (Johnnie) Patterson and Georgia (Joyce/Noonie)  Luter; and brothers, Douglas (Bootsy) Wilson and Dudley (Pooh) Boudreaux; 6 grandchildren, and  11 great grandchildren.

Her personality was very soft and humble. She surrounded herself with prayers, angels and caladium flowers. She collected angels and they were always within reach. Now, she is among all the heavenly angels and is our forever angel. She always looked forward to the spring and summer, so she could nurture and care for her favorite caladium flowers.

She was a loving sister. Every day, she talked multiple times to her sisters. They were her best friends and she and her twin sister Mary Ann loved dressing alike.

She was a faithful Catholic and made sure her children were baptized and made their first communions. They had to make the 5.2-mile round trip walk to church and Catechism, regardless of the weather.

She loved to cook; everything tasted amazing. She was often asked to bake her famous cakes (Carrot, German chocolate with coconuts) especially the fruit cakes. Oh my goodness, then there were the pies and cobblers.

She was an amazing seamstress. She had clothes patterns for every outfit a young boy could wear. I don't think we ever bought clothes until middle school.  Money for clothes was spent on fabric and patterns. She made clothes for her kids, neighborhood kids, and herself.

She loved a good fashion show / gala. No one can count the number of fashion shows she participated in. Of course, she kept all the beautiful evening gowns, shoes and jewelry. Did I say shoes? She was also a marksman at tossing shoes.

A memorial service will be held at 11am on Thursday, June 15, 2023 in the chapel at St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church, 7810 Cypresswood Drive, Spring, Texas 77379.

Flowers may be sent to the church.
