Obituary

Joan Prime, loving wife and mother, was born on July 4th, 1939. She loved being born on the 4th of July and always enjoyed the fIrework displays. An only child, Joan early on expressed interest in scientific things and eventually went on to become a registered nurse. After numerous years of nursing, she became a nursing instructor and discovered a passion for teaching.

Joan married William "Bill" Prime in 1968, had a daughter and moved to Texas in the 1970s. She thrived in her new environment and embraced living in Houston, her beloved new hometown. Within her new home, she became noted as an inspiring teacher, working in RCIA and crafting courses on topics as diverse as Church history, Christian mystics, and themes from both Scriptures, including forgiveness, prayer and women in the Bible. She also offered individual spiritual counseling.

Joan was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in the 1980s, but she did not let its slow progress dampen her enthusiasm for life. She not only continued to teach; she inspired by showing how the spirit can overcome any challenge.

Joan will be especially remembered for her love of her faith, her friends, mystery novels, and a good steak. She will also be remembered for the friendship and love she extended to others. She will be deeply missed by family and friends.
