On Sunday, December 20, 2020, Joan Agatha Persaud (nee: Pooran) passed away at the age of 73. She was a loving wife, mother, and a nurse for 50 years; including 15 years at Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center.

Joan was born on March 3, 1947, in Georgetown, British Guiana (now Guyana), to Isaac and Olivia (Munroe) Pooran. She graduated from East Indian Educational Trust College and the Saint Joseph Mercy Hospital as an RN. In 1976, she immigrated to New York City where she became certified as an RN to practice nursing in the US. During her tenure as a nurse, she earned multiple degrees from St. Joseph's College in Maine and worked all around the US. This included spending significant portions of her nursing career in New York City, NY; Washington, DC; Beaumont and Port Arthur, TX; St. Croix, USVI; Baton Rouge, LA; and Houston, TX.

Joan had a wide array of interests. She enjoyed traveling, cross-stitching, and puzzles. In addition, she was known to enjoy dining at restaurants and attending sporting events with her friends and family. However, her biggest joy was spending time with family, friends, and relatives.

Joan is survived by her husband of 43 years (Terrence C. Persaud, Sr.), her son (Terrence C. Persaud, Jr), and her siblings (Vibert, Michael, Jean, Robert, Janet, Elizabeth, Sonia, & Seeta).

Visitation will be held Monday 12/28/2020 from 5-8PM in the Klein Funeral Home Chapel with a vigil service at 6PM.  The funeral mass will be 10AM Tuesday 12/29/2020 at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church.
