Joan Holst Fuller went peacefully into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 14, 2025 at home in Tomball, Texas. Without a doubt, she heard the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant."

She was born on March 16, 1942 to Taylor and Lillie Mae (Aaron) Phillips in Houston, Texas. She graduated from San Jacinto High School in Houston (1959) and was a drummer in the Golden Gauchos. She also attended Sam Houston State Teachers College in Huntsville, Texas.

She met Jesus as her Savior at the age of nine. This began a lifetime of devotion to Jesus and her Christian activities. Her first church was the Pierce Junction Bible Church with Pastor Gordon Whitelock. She excelled in "The King's Daughters" led by Alice Whitelock. The Whitelocks founded Camp Peniel (now in Marble Falls, Texas) in the late 1940s. Camp Peniel has provided a place for over 200,000 young people to find and develop a relationship with Jesus. Peniel is a Hebrew word in the Bible that means "Face of God". Peniel is the place where Jacob wrestled with an angel and had his name changed to Israel (Genesis 32:30-32). Joan devoted much of her life to this wonderful Christian camp.

Joan began playing the piano at a young age and over the years played for churches and many other special functions. Most recently she played and anchored the group, "The Serving Hearts Singers." They sang from the hymn book for 17 years in nursing homes, small churches, and for many special occasions. When she played, she would channel the Holy Spirit and you could feel the presence of God in the room.

Joan was very bold and adventurous. Some of her activities included skydiving, river rafting, scuba diving, ziplining, and water and snow skiing. She loved the outdoors and plants, but mostly she loved Jesus, music, and she loved you.

Joan is survived by her devoted husband, Michael Fuller, whom she married on March 25, 2006; her children, Rhonda Redmon and husband Jay, Rodney Holst and Traci Block, Richard Holst and wife Theresa, and James Fuller and wife Riley; her grandchildren, Keri McCrory and husband Sean, Kala Morosky, Casey Redmon and wife Randi, Andrew Holst, Madeleine Pierce, Tyler Hart, Trinity Hart, and their sister Tiffany Hart, Jon Fuller, and Kirk Fuller; her great-grandchildren, Carter McCrory, Rhett McCrory, and Luke McCrory; her brother, Don Phillips and wife Sandra; her sister, Patsy Spiller; her brothers-in-law, David Saville and Tony Fuller; and her sister-in-law, Angie Dickerson.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Leeland Jack Holst (married on November 23, 1960 and passed away on August 31, 1985); her grandmother, Carrie "Mama" Aaron; her parents, Taylor and Lillie Mae "Mema" Phillips; her sister, Carolyn Saville; and her brother-in-law, Paul Spiller.

Joan's chosen Bible verse was Isaiah 26:3, "You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you." Her favorite hymn was Because He Lives.

Her first grandchild, Keri, named her "Gigi" which has become a term of endearment for everyone. A special name for a special woman, who instilled the spirit of God in every child and every adult. She was everyone's favorite. Gigi had a special love for you and for life that brought God into every moment.

Know that Joan loved Jesus with all her might and that she loved you, or would have if she had met you. She never met a stranger.

Joan lived to reflect Jesus in her life--so don't be sad, because she has gone to live with Jesus. If you loved Joan, then you will really, REALLY love Jesus.

Friends are invited to visit with Joan's family between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 19, at Klein Funeral Home – CyFair Northwest, 9719 Wortham Blvd., Houston, TX 77065.

A funeral service celebrating her life and faith will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 20, at Tallowood Baptist Church, 555 Tallowood Rd., Houston, TX 77024.

Interment will follow at Klein Memorial Park on State Highway 249 in Pinehurst.
