Jita Lee (Hill) Stancik, age 66, of Tomball, Texas passed away July 28, 2022, after a courageous twelve-year battle with lung cancer. Her husband and family were by her side as Jita peacefully drifted off to be with her Lord.

Jita was born to Grady Hill and Shirley (Goynes) Holsworth of Katy, Texas on January 18, 1956. She graduated from Katy High School in 1974 and always remained a proud Katy Tiger. Jita then attended Sam Houston State University where she met Tony Stancik, the love of her life. The two married in August of 1977, and later welcomed two daughters, Rachel and Tonya. Jita loved her family with all her heart and the thought of leaving them on this earth without her is what kept her fighting, even until the very end. She attended all of her girls' activities, never missing an event. Jita was more than an amazing mother; she was their confidant and friend.

In 1978, Jita graduated with a degree in education and spent her entire teaching career working for Klein ISD. Her passion was United States History, and she enthusiastically poured this love into her students until her retirement in May 2012. Hildebrandt Intermediate School was blessed to be the recipient of Jita's last 20 teaching years. She considered all of her co-workers there as family and continued to enjoy monthly lunches with them even in recent months as her health began to fail.

After retirement, Jita joyfully spent her days taking care of her grandchildren. At the time of her cancer diagnosis in November 2010, she had only one grandchild, but Jita was determined to live and make memories with all grandchildren to come. She bravely fought cancer for twelve years, allowing her to welcome four additional grandchildren into her life. She was a devoted Jiji, always cheering on her grandkids, committed to being there when they needed her. Her love was fiercely and deeply returned by them all.

Jita enjoyed traveling, especially to Washington D.C. where she took her eighth-grade students every spring break until her retirement. She loved bringing history alive and making the trip fun and memorable for all. Favorite family memories revolve around RV trips to historical sites all over the United States with Tony and her daughters every summer. Some of her favorite trips in later years involved traveling internationally with Tony, with many places checked off her long bucket list. Jita was a big fan of the Houston Texans and spent many Sundays attending games. She enjoyed eating Mexican food and drinking Dr. Pepper, reading books, and most of all, spending time with her family.

Jita is preceded in death by her father, Grady Hill; mother, Shirley Holsworth; and stepfather, Carl Holsworth. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Tony Stancik; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rachel and Chad Lagaly and Tonya and Eric Taylor; grandchildren, Hunter, Hannah and Harrison Lagaly, Waylon and Jaxon Taylor; grandchild to be, Elliott Taylor; her stepmother, Jenny Hill; and her two sisters, Tara Montgomery and Jenny Dee Paige.

A celebration of life to honor Jita will be held at Houston Northwest Church in Houston, Texas on September 10, 2022, at 11 am.
