Jimmy Jude Guidry, 69, of Tomball Texas, passed away on October 9th, 2023. He was surrounded by his loving wife, Gina, his daughters, along with his bonus kids Jessica and Michiel Bridges. Jimmy lost his battle to pneumonia following ongoing complications from his fight with cancer. Jimmy was born on November 14th, 1953 to Paul "Blanco" Guidry and Vesta Rita Willis of Cecilia, Louisiana. He was a godly man that would light up a room with his sense of humor and personality. Growing up, Jimmy loved spending time with his six siblings, his cousins, and playing in his rock and roll band. He always spoke fondly of his time in the band with Larry, Syd, Jeff, and Paul. With so many family and friends meant there was always someone around to hang out with but the bond between Larry and Jimmy was something extremely special.
After graduating from Cecilia High School in the class of '71, he attended the University of Southern Louisiana where he graduated with a business degree. After graduation, he began his career in the oilfield services industry with a job as a directional driller with Sperry-Sun Drilling Company. He worked for Sperry-Sun and later with Halliburton for almost 35 years. He was successful in many roles ranging from offshore drilling, to sales, and management. During this time he was very fortunate to meet many life-long friends. He was known for his contagious sense of humor, spirited personality, and his ability to get along with everyone he met.
In 1987, Jimmy met his forever sweetheart, Gina. He quickly knew she was the love of his life. In April 1988, he changed jobs in order to move back to Houston. Thirteen months after their first date, they were married on December 10, 1988. They were blessed with three beautiful girls, Jacy, Darby, and Holly. Each one brought incredible joy and delight to his life. The two things he was most passionate about in life were following God and loving his girls.
After retiring from Halliburton in 2016, Jimmy spent his time traveling and spending time with Gina. They loved visiting a special little town in Mexico and walking the beach together. In 2021, he was blessed with his first granddaughter, Everlea. She became his favorite person in the world. She kept him young and filled his last two and a half years on earth with laughter and joy.
While Jimmy's last eight years were filled with treatments, surgeries, and chronic pain, he never complained. He gave God the glory for the gifts he was given. When asked how he was doing, he loved to reply "better than I deserve to be".
Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, Blanco Guidry, mother Rita Guidry, as well as brothers Michael and Tommy Guidry. He is survived by his wife Gina Guidry, his daughters Jacy Guidry, Darby Griffin and husband Tyler, Holly Knippa and husband Matt as well as granddaughter Everlea Knippa. He is additionally survived by his sisters in law, Laura Placker, Hilda Evans and husband Kris, Beverly Luce and husband David as well as mother and father in-law Eloise and Charles Placker.
