Jim Edward Ellis (Sonny) age 83 of Montgomery, Texas went home on Saturday, August 4, 2018. He was born on the 4th of July in1935 to Abby Mae Hancock Ellis and Jim Edward Ellis in Palestine, Texas.

Jim (Sonny) was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Wisnoski Ellis, his brother and his six sisters. He is survived by his daughters Sharon Ellis Hunter and husband Michael, Cindy Ellis Talmadge and husband Neal, Tracey Ellis Hart and husband Russell and his son Jim Edward Ellis and wife Hazel. He is also survived by his nieces Sonja Thornton, Wanda Barham and nephew Kerry Callaway. They held a very special place in his heart and he shared a lifetime of experiences with them. Sonny ( Pawpaw) was blessed with 10 grandchildren. Kaylor Hunter West and husband James, Blake Hunter, Zachary Hunter, Trevor Talmadge, Tera Talmadge, Daniel Rayne, Lauren Rayne Schulze and husband Benton, Rachel Rayne, Justin Ellis and Dalton Ellis. Before his passing Pawpaw was introduced to his first great grandchild, Josephine Blake West, born May 23, 2018.

Sonny was a retired home builder and also spent many years in Houston with a successful upholstering business with the partnership of his wife , Dorothy.

He was a lifetime member of the Texas Range Riders and held the position of Drill Captain during his membership. He loved fishing, playing poker, dancing, riding horses and he loved our mother. He was quite the story teller and truly lived the stories he told and shared.

Sonny (Dad) will be missed but is finally free to see again and dance with our mom again.

Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, August 9th, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Klein Memorial Park and Mausoleum 2920. Located 9714 FM 2920 Rd Tomball, Texas 77375.
