Jerry Volberding

October 3, 1941 – January 13, 2022

Houston, Texas - Jerry Janece Johnson Volberding passed away peacefully on January 13 ^th , 2022, with her husband of 61 years holding her hand.  Jerry was born October 3 ^rd , 1941 in Fort Worth, Texas and was raised in Wichita Falls, Texas by her parents Ruth and Harold Johnson along with her older brother Don Johnson.  Jerry met Gary Volberding, the love of her life, at Wichita Falls Senior High School.  After attending Midwestern State University for one year, Jerry and Gary married in 1960.  Their first child, James Wesley, was born 13 months later in 1961.  Gary's military and early career took the young family to New Jersey, Georgia, New Mexico and West Texas, where their second child, Jill Janece, was born in 1966.  Jerry and Gary settled in Houston in 1971.  Jerry enjoyed a successful career as a real estate agent in the Champions area before working as a marketing specialist for Old Republic Title until her retirement in 2006.

Jerry attended Bammel Church of Christ for many years and was committed to raising her children as Christians.  She valued her faith, her family and her loyal group of friends.   Jerry leaves behind her loving husband Gary, brother Don Johnson (Ruth,) of Pasadena, Texas, son James Volberding (Donna) of Tyler, Texas, daughter Jill Sheley (Harold) of Winthrop, Washington and seven grandchildren who live around the globe. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
