Obituary

Jerry David Stricklin was called home to the Lord on Monday, September 7, 2020. Born in Denison, Texas, December 7, 1939, Jerry grew up one in a household of five boys born to Lessie and Gil Stricklin. He attended schools in Denison until his senior year and graduated Spring Branch High School in Houston. Upon graduation, he attended Sam Houston State Teachers and was a founding member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity chapter there, where he made may lifelong. Jerry then served in the US Army for three years. Upon returning to the Sam Houston, he met his future bride, Eyvone, and the married in 1964. They expanded their family to include three sons and countless experiences, which account for Jerry's earned reputation as a storyteller. Whether knowing Jerry as a colleague, neighbor, family, or friend, we are all blessed to have had his counsel, observed his work ethic, laughed at his wit, and learned from his wisdom.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Eyvone, his three sons and their wives, Todd and Stacey, Terry and Tracey, Ty and Rebecca. "Pop" he is also survivied by his eight grandchildren.
There will be a visitation on Thursday, September 10, from 6:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. at Klein Funeral Home at 1400 West Main Street in Tomball. A funeral Service will be held at 11:00a.m., Friday, September 11, at Salem Lutheran Church at 22601 Lutheran Church Road in Tomball. The church is large enough to accommodate those who are social distancing. Pallbearers will be Russ Coats, James Henry, Joel Bernard, Ernie Deats, Alan Gage, Jim Lale, Benny Barcello and Burt Landry. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Esquires/Delta Tau Delta at Sam Houston State University, Hugh Grimes, Hank Shoop and Chuck Legarde.
