Jerry Walker Elrod was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on December 26, 1954, and passed away in Cypress, Texas on September 13, 2025.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Mary Elrod.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Rita Kay Elrod; his sons, Christopher Elrod and wife Brandy, Kevin Elrod and wife Samantha, Nathan Elrod and wife Kristin, and Jason Elrod and wife Jamie; granddaughters, Abigail Elrod, Sophia Elrod, Stella Elrod, Kyleigh Elrod, and Kyndall Elrod; brother, Larry Elrod; and sister, Glenda Wallace.
Throughout Jerry's life his faith, family and friends were his greatest joy.
Jerry grew up attending Christ Lutheran Church in Little Rock, Arkansas. In his youth he played baseball, basketball where he had the name Shorty, and also sang in the choir.
Jerry's first job was with Texas Instruments in St. Louis where he met Rita. He was transferred to Texas in 1990. Houston has been home since then. This is where they raised their four boys and sent them to Lutheran Elementary School, Lutheran High School and on to college. Jerry was so proud of their accomplishments.
More recently Jerry loved spending time at their JW Ranch. There he enjoyed family time, especially with his grandkids, his tractor and hunting with his sons. That was his happy place.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jerry's honor can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church and Concordia Lutheran High School.
