Obituary

Jerry Ray Allen, 86, of The Woodlands, TX, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025.

He was born on November 12, 1939, in Iola, TX to Tom and Ruby Allen.  When Jerry was 2 years old, the family moved to Baytown, TX where he graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1958.  Later he attended the Baptist Seminary College in Jacksonville, TX. He served as a pastor for 30 years before retiring.  Afterwards he relocated to Houston where he started a successful business installing window treatments.

In 1992, on a blind date, he met Cathy. And it was love at first site, well maybe 2nd!  They married on March 12, 1996.  Together, in 2008, they became members of Living Word Lutheran Church.  Jerry loved his Living Word church family. He will always be remembered as the best dressed man in church! Always in a suit with his bowtie, suspenders and pocket handkerchief. He loved the Lord and was never without his Bible, always sharing scripture to anyone who was around him.  The old church hymns were his favorite and we all loved hearing his beautiful voice.

In retirement Jerry proved himself to be a very talented artist.  He was self-taught, creating beautiful watercolors and acrylic paintings for family and friends.

Jerry loved life! His laugh was a joy to hear!  He loved God and his family. His happiest moments were those spent at family gatherings. We will miss him terribly, but he has left us with many wonderful memories. We were blessed to have him in our lives.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Ruby, his sisters, Betty Jean Sawyer, and Dorothy Bryant.  He is survived by his spouse, Cathy, his brother Steve  and spouse Wanda, his cousin Sue Jones and spouse Jim, his daughters and spouses Neva Paramithas (Panos), Kathy Elder (Ted), Natasha Garcia (Gene), and Vickie, Step-daughter, Allison Wilson (Tom), Step-son, Michael Burkett and 13 grandchildren, and 17 greatgrandchildren.
