Jeanne A. Witt

Jeanne Andrew Witt, 95, of Cypress, Texas, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2026, in Cypress, Texas. She was born on June 17, 1931, in Pueblo, Colorado to Milton Andrew and Josephine Weisshaar Andrew. Jeanne spent her childhood in Pueblo, graduating first in her class from Pueblo Catholic High School in 1949. She later attended the College of Mount Saint Joseph in Cincinnati, Ohio, graduating in 1953.

After graduation, Jeanne moved to the Washington, DC area and worked for several years for the Department of the Navy. While in Washington, she met John Witt, an Army officer who was stationed at Fort Belvoir in Virginia. They married in 1960. In the next dozen years, they had four children and lived in four states and three countries outside the United States. After her husband retired from the military, the family moved to Missouri City, Texas. Jeanne took a job with the Fort Bend County Library system, where she worked for over a decade, rising to Chief of Circulation for the entire county system before she retired in 1991.

Jeanne was an avid reader, a good seamstress, and excellent daughter, sister, mother and grandmother. Her many friends and her family appreciated her sense of humor and her intellect. She was active in her church, serving as a eucharistic minister and teaching in the RCIA program, and a strong supporter of her family and her many friends.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents Milton and Josephine; her husband John; her elder sister Mary Louise Andrew; and her son-in-law Bradley Cox. She is survived by her children: Katy Witt Cox of Cypress Texas; Jack Witt and his wife Betsy Witt of Glenwood Springs, Colorado; Libby Witt of Alexandria, Virginia; and Peggy Witt Ballard and her husband Norman Ballard of League City, Texas. She is also survived by her four grandchildren Patrick Cox, Hannah Ballard, Claire Cox, and Reid Ballard.

A funeral will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, September 21, 2026, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 19222 Tomball Parkway, Houston, Texas 77070. Visitation will take place at the church prior to the funeral, beginning at 9:30. Jeanne’s ashes will be interred with those of her husband at the Houston National Cemetery in a private family ceremony on September 22.

The family would like to extend its profound gratitude to staff at Parsons House Cypress, Village Green Alzheimer’s Care Home-Cypress, and Altus Hospice, who took care of Jeanne in her final years.
