Obituary

Jeanine Martha Bruner passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025 at Northgate Assisted Living while surrounded by family.

Jeanine was born December 14, 1937 at Mercy Hospital in Hamilton, Ohio to the late Cecilia and Thomas Hester; the youngest of nine children.

She is survived by her husband Stephen F Bruner III and their children Michele (Christopher) Bulger, Melanie (David) Jorden, Stephen F (Christine) Bruner IV. She is also survived by ten grandchildren Brent Bulger, Garrett Bulger, Rileigh (Andres) Cruz, Madeline Jorden, Taylor Jorden, Robert Jorden, Greta Bruner, Hannah Bruner, Ava Bruner and Stephen F Bruner V.

Jeanine graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1955. While there, she met a young man who attended Hamilton Catholic High School and he became the love of her life and her future husband, with whom she would share her life for sixty six years. The two of them became best friends and soulmates.

Upon graduation Jeanine began her career as a secretary at the Atomic Energy facility in Fernald, Ohio,  After moving to Texas in 1969, she was a secretary at Inwood Elementary School where her children were enrolled. As the children matured she became secretary at Eisenhower High School. After she left the schools she became a secretary to the CEO of the Houston office of Heerema Marine Engineering and worked there until she retired in 2001.

Jeanine was a dedicated mother, wife, grandmother and sister; her family life and her children were always her priority. She supported them in all of their activities and volunteered to work in the organizations in which they participated She and Steve were always eager to host family and friends at their homes in Houston and Freeport where no birthday or holiday went unmarked with home cooked meals, card games and laughter. She passes on her love for spades, puzzles, golf, cooking, music and the beach. She will be remembered for her selfless dedication, sacrifice and unwavering love to family.

After retirement, Jeanine and Steve traveled frequently, taking cruises and two trips to Europe. Her faith was central to her life. She was a long time member of Saint Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on August 29, 2025 at 11:00am, preceded by a visitation at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Klein Funeral Home.

The family wishes to thank the people at NorthGate Assisted Living and Heart to Heart Hospice for the care and love they bestowed on Jeanine and her family.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to Saint Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church at 7810 Cypresswood Dr. Spring, TX 77379 or to a charity of your choice.
