Jean Ruth (Evans) Sergeant was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 9 th , 1925 to the late Ruth Schell Evans and Leo Edward Evans. She was taught by Catholic nuns from 1 st grade through high school and graduated from Dominican High School on June 6 th , 1943. She married the love of her life, Roger Sergeant later that same year. Her family moved from St. Claire Shores in Michigan to Lexington, Kentucky in 1960 where she worked for 26 years in the credit department at Sears until her retirement in 1986. In 2017, Jean moved to Tomball, Texas to live with her daughter and son-in-law.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Dianna Sue Sergeant and her son-in-law, Fred Douglas Lowe III; her granddaughters, Stacey Mitchell Middleton (Brian), Kristen Marie Foster (James), and April Marie Watson (Scott); her grandson, Austin Douglas Lowe; her great-grandchildren, Katelyn May Foster, Natalie Paige Middleton, Grant Peyton Watson, Jameson Nathaniel Foster, Noah Edward Middleton, and Bella McKenna. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Sergeant, her son, Richard Edward Sergeant, and her daughter Donna Marie Lowe.
Jean loved remembering family and friends with cards on their birthdays and other special occasions. She was known for her meticulously beautiful handwriting and her very long memory. She was a natural storyteller and loved to reminisce about her youth and the people she has loved in her lifetime. Jean lovingly wrapped gifts, prepared special meals, and crocheted beautiful afghans to bless the people she cared about, paying attention to detail and showing how much she treasured each relationship.
Visitation will be held at Kerr Brothers in Lexington, KY. on Main Street on Saturday, March 14 th at 11 am with a celebration of life officiated by Dr. Robert Baker to follow at 12 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Abandoned Animal rescue in Tomball, Texas, https://www.aartexas.org/get-involved/donate/ or Bluegrass Care Navigators (Hospice), https://9419.thankyou4caring.org/ .
