Mrs. Jean Patrick Benge was called to Heaven on November 24, 2023. She was born just outside Jackson, Mississippi in 1929. She was born prematurely at a time when most premature babies did not survive. She began life as a survivor and stayed a strong, petite survivor until her death. She successfully battled breast cancer and a heart valve replacement. She was a graduate of Milsaps College. She entered the work force as a petite model for Learner's Department Store in Jackson. She later worked at Sinclair Oil in New Orleans and Houston. She transitioned into teaching, which she dearly loved, as she reared her children. She taught at Houston Community College, St. Vincent de Paul, and St. Thomas' Episcopal. Later in life, was a substitute teacher in Lexington Kentucky and New Orleans until she retired in her seventies. She attended graduate school at University of St. Thomas and at University of Kentucky. She was a devoted wife and mother who loved Jesus and shared her faith whenever the opportunity presented itself. She is survived by two sons, Raymond Benge, Jr. and Patrick Benge. She joins in Heaven, her parents Daniel H Patrick, Sr. and Gladys (Murray) Patrick, and her siblings Delle Moore, Floss Waggener, Dan Patrick, Jr., and Wade Patrick.
