Javier Rodriguez passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 after a valiant battle with COVID.

Born in Houston, TX, Javier was the youngest of 15 siblings: Gloria Tello, Frank Rodriguez, Jesse Rodriguez, Ortencia Mata, Aurora Mendoza, Amparo Rodriguez, Thomas Rodriguez, Maria Elena Gonzalez, Felipe Rodriguez, Michael Rodriguez, Hector Rodriguez, Oralia Morris, Reynaldo Rodriguez and Yolanda Rodriguez. He also has countless nieces and nephews that he grew up with and was very close to. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tomas Rodriguez and Jovita Pena Rodriguez as well as sisters, Yolanda & Amparo and brothers, Hector & Frank.

Javier is survived by his wife, Angela Rodriguez and daughters, Marissa Diane Rodriguez, Lauren Nicole Rodriguez, and Ashley Marie Rodriguez.

Angela and Javier met while working at a local grocery store. As fate might have it, they also went to the same high school. They have been together for 33 years and married for 28.

Javier was known for his infectious laugh that could be heard from miles away. He did not know anyone that was not a friend. He was beloved by many. He was a softball Dad to everyone he encountered and was never shy about providing any helpful tips or advice to anyone that would listen. He was a very generous man and did countless things behind the scenes that no one knew of. He would buy food for the homeless, buy groceries for strangers, and give his last dollar to a family member.

Javier was very competitive; losing was not an option. He greatly instilled this in all three of his girls which has made them the independent, hard-working women they are today. He was very stubborn, opinionated, meticulous, precise, and had a mind that never stopped thinking of different and better ways to do things. He would take things apart and tweak them, even if they did not need to be fixed.

A few years ago, Javier re-discovered his passion for riding bikes. You could often find him riding his bike along White Oak Bayou multiple days a week. He was always trying to push the limits and never stopped competing. His nickname was "Ricky Bobby" because he was always determined to ride harder and faster than everyone else.
