Javier Martinez, a/k/a Tomate and Papy, a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2025, in the presence of his loving wife of 45 years. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

He was born on November 14, 1950, in Montemorelos, Mexico.  He dedicated all of his life to his family and his work as a skilled Machinist.  He began his career in Houston, Texas at Geolograph Pioneer Geosource in 1973 and retired from NOV in 2016. Despite his many responsibilities, he always made time for his passion for family.

Though Javier never wanted to be the center of attention, he deserves to have his long years of fatherly love honored.  He was a man of integrity, kindness, and generosity, and he left a lasting impact on all who knew him. He was lovingly known as the "family handyman" and would help anyone who asked.

Javier enjoyed playing soccer, baseball, tennis, and golf.  He especially enjoyed sharing his love of sports with his two sons and nephews, all of whom will never forget.

Javier is survived by his wife, Alicia Fernandez Martinez; sons, Javier Manuel and Oscar Gerardo; his daughter-in-law, Amy Brady Martinez; the two loves of his life, his grandsons, Cruz Scott and Case Javier; as well as many family and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his father, Manuel Martinez; his mother, Guadalupe Martinez; and his five sisters, Juana Alonso, Maria Luisa Martinez, Josefina Martinez, Maria del Socorro, and Albeza Medina.  He will be laid to rest in Monterrey, Mexico, alongside his family.

Friends are invited to visit with the family between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, at Klein Funeral Home - CyFair Northwest, 9719 Wortham Boulevard, Houston, TX 77065. The Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m.
