Janie Pavlock Wade, age 87, surrounded by her family, went home to heaven to be with her husband, Foster L.Wade Jr. on September 4, 2018. Janie was born January 31, 1931 in Plantersville, TX. She loved to tell the story of how she first met Foster. She was standing on a country road in her cute short-shorts, and he drove by in his car.  He turned around, went back and asked her out.  They were married on October 11, 1946, just six months later.

Most of her married life she lived in Houston, TX on Viking Street where she was a member of St Ambrose Catholic Church.  She worked over 15 years for Joske's Department store as a Sales Associate. In 1993, she and Foster moved to their farm south of Palestine, TX after Foster retired. There she was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a member of the Women's Altar Society. She also volunteered with the St Vincent De Paul Society there, assisting with the Food Pantry and Resale Store. After losing her loving husband, she remained in Palestine with many friends that they shared until she moved back to Houston in 2014.

She was a great cook and made the best homemade chocolate layer cake from scratch and made an awesome meat patty that could not be beat. In Palestine and Houston, she was a proud member of the Red Hat Society. She looked forward to the events hosted by "The Hatters".

Janie loved her three children, Larry Wade, Dwight Wade and Sandra Thompson, as well as their spouses, Sandy, Cynthia and Steve.  Her grandchildren and their spouses gave her great joy. Jason and wife Lisa Wade, Tiffany and husband Greg Harrington, Shane Hairston and wife Sarah and Clint Thompson. She was also blessed to have three beautiful great-granddaughters, Julia and Jessica Wade and Savannah Hairston, who were the light in her eye's as she spoke of them. She was a caring and giving older sister to Harold and Fred Pavlock. Janie made friends easily with neighbors wherever she lived, at her churches, at St. Vincent de Paul and at her retirement community—Brookdale. She loved to play bingo, to eat out, to listen to music, to tell a good story and to laugh. She had the most beautiful smile that could be seen in her eyes, but like Foster would say if she was angry, you could see that too in her eyes.

Her family and friends held a big celebration for her 80th birthday party, which marked 80 remarkable years.  Although an original small-town Texas girl, she traveled all over the United States as well to France, Ireland and Spain.

Anyone who knew her knew she loved to talk on the phone.  She is being missed now and many of us are thinking, "I need to call Mom, Nannie or Janie!" to tell her some bit of news. She will still be listening ready to hear anyone wanting to talk.
