Janie "Modgi" Marie Grayson was born in Weimar, Texas on October 9, 1954, and passed away in Spring, Texas on November 30, 2021.
If Modgi could be summed up in one word, that word is service. It began with her family as one of nine siblings - from family, to Dairy Queen, to her husband, children, AmRisc, grandchildren, and most importantly, God - service to others brought her happiness. Even at 67, she continued to serve with the enthusiasm, energy, and bliss of a child.
In 1971, she met a pesky little teen who wouldn't stop stirring the hot fudge at Dairy Queen. Her first words to him were, "You either buy something or you get out." Little did she know they would spend 50 years together. They married on November 18 th , 1978 in Hostyn, Texas, at the same church where her funeral mass will be held.
She will be laid to rest at Queen Of The Holy Rosary Catholic Church on December 9 th , 2021, near her father.
This is a celebration of Modgi's life – she wants this to be a party! Wearing black was reserved for August 16 th in remembrance of Elvis Presley's passing. Purple is her favorite color, and she requests that you wear purple or lively colored clothing to any party service of hers you can attend. If you cannot attend, St. Ignatius will livestream her Memorial Service beginning at 11 AM on Thursday, December 9th. You can watch her service live, here .
She is preceded in death by her child to be; father, Erwin "Poppy" Ignatz Holan; brothers, James Holan and Johnny Holan; and niece, Shannon Marshall.
