On December 18th, 2019, our beloved angel Janie Marie Hooks went to be with the Lord. Her long and courageous battle with breast cancer was an example of her strength and strong will. She was 52 years young and enjoyed life to the fullest, even during endless chemo treatments and hospital visits.

She is survived by her husband and best friend, Harlan Hooks, her four sons, Brandon, Rodney, Matthew, and Nathan, and her beloved grandkids, Jordan, Isaiah, and Ezra. She is also survived by her mother, Bennie Thigpen Neckar, and her in-laws, Rose and Roy Hooks. She was preceded in death by her father, Ronald Neckar, brother, Bennie, and sisters, Angela and Mary.

As a child, Janie grew up playing sports and especially loved to play soccer, playing on a traveling team.  She grew up mostly in the DFW area, which is where she and Harlan eventually met in the early 90's. She worked in retail, was a fitness instructor, worked in internet sales for BMW, and was an Operations Managed for Golds Gym. She left the wor­ kplace twice, once to raise the boys when they were younger, and then again four years ago to help care for her  mother.

Janie enjoyed watching all types of sports, enjoys the outdoors, and loved going on beach trips or to the lake. Most of all, she enjoyed time with her precious grandkids, family, and friends.

Janie's beautiful smile and fearless attitude will remain with us as we grieve the loss of a very special woman who impac­ ted the lives of many. She will be honored, cherished, and remembered  for eternity.
