Obituary

Janice "Jayne" Kay Smith, 76, of Tomball, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2024. She was born on May 17, 1948, in Olney, Illinois, to the late Charles Fredrick Hendershott and Dorothy Jean (Bauman) Hendershott.

Jayne is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Norman Ray Smith; her son, Timothy Ray Smith; her daughter, Elizabeth Smith Maxey (Dave); her sister, Barbara Sechrest; her brother, Jeffrey Hendershott; and her five grandchildren, Adam, Cole, Cannon, Aspen, and Milaan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Dorothy Hendershott.

To her family, Jayne was known simply as "MiMi." She was an exceptional grandmother whose love for her grandchildren knew no bounds. MiMi created many cherished family traditions, especially during the Christmas season. Her kitchen was a place of warmth and laughter as she and her grandchildren spent hours making donuts and cookies, a tradition that will forever live on in their hearts.

Above all, Jayne's greatest love was her husband, Norman. Their journey together began as high school sweethearts and blossomed into a life full of adventure. Over the years, they traveled the world, sharing a deep bond and love for one another. Together, they enjoyed tennis, golf, camping, cooking, and countless other activities. Their love was a true testament to what it means to be soulmates.

Jayne was a constant source of love, support, and wisdom to her family. She wore many hats, always there when they needed her most, offering guidance, comfort, and a listening ear. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

The family will receive visitors on Thursday, November 7th at 1:00 p.m. at Klein Funeral Home, 1400 W Main Street, Tomball, Texas 77375.
