Janet Kmiec Sopchak, 99 of Spring, TX passed away peacefully on February 11, 2021. Born November 22, 1921 to the late Thomas & Frances Kmiec at their home in rural Washington County, Texas. She was the fifth of seven children to grow up in Rosenberg, Texas, where her and her siblings assisted with the daily chores of sharecropping the land they worked. She was an exemplary student in school winning multiple spelling bees and later committing her intelligence to multiple businesses which prove to be successful to this very day. She met and married the love of her life, Louis "Louie" Sopchak, on August 25, 1940. They welcomed two children into the world, one daughter and one son. Early in life they founded Louis & Son Plumbing, which paved the way for future generations to carry on the legacy and also instill skill sets for multiple family and friends, whom later opened companies due to the education they received during their time apprenticing alongside them. After the plumbing company took off Louie & Janet decided that they'd take a chance in a real estate venture that she ended up excelling at, which eventually led to them owning multiple rental properties that allowed her trendy sense of fashion and décor shine. She had a gift for the arts creating well over a hundred beautiful oil paintings throughout the years. Her keen sense of elegance and class was undeniable. Every time she entered a room there was no question the was a lady present. She had a love for traveling with her husband and after his passing carried that tradition on with her daughter and sisters visiting nearly every inch of the United States and a handful of trips to other countries. Later in life her devotion to serving the Catholic community was so passionate and it showed in her volunteer work and gatherings with the Senior Saints. She was a strong, independent, and influential woman who had no fear, and was willing to speak her mind and stand her ground, while still proving to be tender and kind with a heart of gold. She had a witty sense of humor that was dry and often straight to the point when speaking. She will be dearly missed and all whom had the pleasure of knowing her are better for being given the opportunity to share time with such an extraordinary woman.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, husband Louie, daughter Carolyn Sopchak McElfresh of Spring, Sammy Wayne Sopchak of Anderson TX, two brothers and four sisters. She leaves behind three grandchildren, Laura Sopchak Avery, Samantha and husband Simmie DeVille, Ryan McElfresh, two great-grandchildren Brayden and Bristol McElfresh, and multiple nieces and nephews.
