As a child, her family moved from Elwood to Anderson, Indiana. They attended the First United Methodist Church in Anderson. Janet graduated from Anderson High School in 1963 and later attended Anderson Beauty College, after which she was a hairdresser for 17 years. During this time Janet met and married her husband Bob and bought a house on historic West 8th Street and renovated the home. They soon welcomed daughter Alicia in 1972. Janet and her daughter Alicia moved to Texas in December of 1980. Janet immediately found a position with American Capital Insurance Co. She had a long career in the oil and gas industry and served in various positions at Mesa Petroleum, Mark L. Scheidler Inc., Seneca Resources, and Hilcorp Energy Co. where she retired in 2012. Janet was a faithful and active member of New Beginnings Church in Spring, TX. She went on several mission trips with her church family including ministry to the Indians in South Dakota and Mexico. She enjoyed splitting her time between Houston with her family, church friends, and time with her friends in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Janet loved hosting parties, game nights, and gatherings with her family and friends. Janet loved to watch Nascar races and even went to the Dayton 500 in 2020. In her younger years, Janet participated in the Powder Puff stock car race at her hometown track Anderson Speedway. Janet had a kind, hardworking, loving spirit. She was always willing to help someone in need. She will be missed by many but especially by her beloved daughter Alicia.
