Obituary

Janet Irene Pokorski Clarke passed peacefully under her own terms on October 25th with her husband and two sisters at her side.

Janet Clarke was a woman of many accomplishments: pianist, dancer, choreographer, scholar, and educator.  She shone in all of them, but the once which gave her the most satisfaction was being an educator. Over the years she had taught in a number of private and public schools in several states, but she felt that she had found her niche when she arrived at Klein Collins High School seven years ago.

Throughout her yearlong battle with cancer, she was in front of her AP and duo credit English classes as often as possible and could be found grading papers and creating lessons from her hospital bed. "Teaching," she said, "is my medicine and my therapy." In an interview for the Klein Collins yearbook she stated: "It's really the only thing I've ever wanted to do. I get to do things that are so much fun, and they pay me."

Janet Clarke is survived by her husband Don; sisters Mary Running and June Woods, her mother Maxine Pokorski, a brother Joe Pokorski, and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

There will be a memorial service on Wednesday, November 14, at 4:00 at the Klein Funeral Home 16131 Champion Forest Drive, Klein, Texas 77379.  Donations can be made to Klein Collins High school where a fund for a memorial in Janet Irene Pokorski Clarke is being created.

"And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest." (Shakespeare)
