James Carlton Zipp , age 81,was born February 21, 1942 in Junction Texas. He went home to be with the Lord while living in Cypress, Texas on January 2, 2024.

James was a kind, self taught, and loving man who enjoyed time with family and friends. He liked fishing, hunting, sausage making and playing games-- especially Bridge. He was an avid gardener who grew pounds of delicious tomatoes every year. He also built furniture and even enclosed a patio to add an additional room to his home.

He served his church, operating its Food Pantry for many years by going to the local food bank, picking up items and seeing that the shelves were filled. He also served his community and was on the board of two Home Owner Associations.

He was a member of the fraternal orders of Woodmen, DeMolay and Masons.

James retired in 1992 from USAA with 34 years of service. Afterwards he was active in Golden Eagles, their retirement organization. He served a year as president and volunteered on numerous service projects.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Pennell Zipp; daughter, Stacy Lynn Kleppel and husband, Robert and 4 grandchildren; Zachary David Kleppel, Hannah Elizabeth Kleppel, Sarah Abigail Kleppel, and Grace Annaliese Kleppel. He is also survived by his sister, Ernestine Kibler.

His Celebration of Life service will be held January 19 at 11:00 a.m. in New Braunfels at First United Methodist Church, located at 572 W. San Antonio St.
