Born in San Antonio, Texas on April 9, 1930, James Mathew Young Jr.
went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 7, 2022. He is survived by
his wife of 73 years, Frances Jane Riggs Young. He is preceded in death
by his sister, Bernice Kirkpatrick and son-in-law William Granger Sharman,
II. He is survived by his other sister, Virginia Jeanne Cowsert, his son and
daughter-in-law, James Alan and Patricia Young and his daughter, Gwynne
Annell Young Sharman along with his grandchildren, Michelle Christene
Sharman, William Joseph Sharman, II and spouse, Amanda Sharman,
Austin James Young and spouse Rebecca Boisvert, Taylor Ann Young, and
Kirby Nicole Miller and spouse Michael Miller. James also has thirteen
great grandchildren whom he loved dearly.

Known as Jim or Jimmy to many, he grew up in San Antonio where he met
Frances at Harlandale High School. Upon graduation in 1948, Jim
declared that his one purpose in life at the time was to marry his high
school sweet heart and have a job that would support her. They were
married a year later in 1949 and continued to love each other for the next
73 years. Two years later in 1951, Jim joined the US Navy and served
during the Korean War until 1954. He was stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii
and during this time his son James was born. Following his military
service, he and Frances relocated to San Antonio and he began his career
as an Air Traffic Controller for The Federal Aviation Administration. While
living in San Antonio, his daughter Gwynne was born. Shortly thereafter,
the FAA transferred the family to Houston in 1965.

Upon retirement from the FAA, he began his 2nd career as an ordained
minister. Over the years, Jim had returned to church and was seeking to
serve the Lord. In 1963, he surrendered to the ministry and was ordained
to the gospel ministry by the Grace Bible Church of San Antonio. Jim
spent many years ministering and caring for those in need through his
work as a Chaplain at Houston Northwest Medical Center, M.D. Anderson
Hospital, and Klein Funeral Homes.

In 1982 he founded Total CareMinistries which was dedicated to crises within the hospitals, nursing
homes and included providing biblical counseling to individuals and
families. Jim continued his work serving the Lord through the ministry until
the day he went home to heaven. He and Frances were active members of
Champion Forest Baptist Church.

Jim dedicated his life to becoming a faithful servant to his Lord and Savior.
"I see the Lord work in the lives of so many, especially my own life. I look
forward to each day with excitement, just to see what the Lord is going to
do for that day. I trust God will continue to open doors and keep me on
course to His perfect will for each day as I seek to serve him".

He was truly loved by so many and will be missed.

Jim will be buried with military honors in a private graveside service for his family at Houston National Cemetery, Houston, Texas.
