Obituary

Please join us in celebrating the life of James Michael Trotter, Sr., who passed peacefully on April 6, 2021 following a lengthy illness. Mike was born to J.R. and Bernice Worley Trotter in Shreveport, Louisiana. Mike graduated from Byrd High School in Shreveport and went on to Texas A&M University in 1951. Mike was a proud member of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets and graduated in 1955 with a degree in Geological Engineering. Following graduation, Mike went to Fort Knox, Kentucky to serve the remainder of his commission in the United States Army as a 1st Lieutenant and Tank Commander in the Second Armored Cavalry Division. Mike began his professional career as a petroleum engineer with Placid Oil Company first in Shreveport, then in Houma, Louisiana. It is in Houma that he met the love of his life, Barbara Andruss, who would become his wife of 63 years. Following his time at Placid, he took a job at Union Oil of California. Mike went on to join Quintana Petroleum Corporation where he would serve with distinction for the remainder of his career. He enjoyed traveling the world with his loving wife Barbara by his side, and made numerous trips over the years with the Traveling Aggies. He served as the class agent for the Texas A&M University Class of 1955 and was a President of the Sul Ross Group. Mike was a longtime season ticket holder at Kyle Field, where he supported his beloved Texas Aggie Football Team until the end.

Mike will be fondly remembered by his friends and family for his wit, dry sense of humor, and always having an anecdote at the ready. He was an avid reader and a lifelong student of history.

Mike is survived by his wife, Barbara, daughter Laura, son Michael, and granddaughter Kaitlyn. A private graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Corsicana, Texas.

In memory of Mike, those who wish to donate are encouraged to support the Texas A&M Foundation, or the charity of your choosing.
