James Thompson's Obituary
James ("Jim") Curtis Thompson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The youngest son of Marvin and Myrtle Thompson, he graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1971 and joined the First National Bank of Albuquerque. Jim enjoyed a successful career with primarily a Human Resources focus, coupled with executive and management consulting—affording him many rewarding travel opportunities.
Jim and his wife Mary moved to Spring, TX in 1977, where they joyfully raised their sons, Matt and Mike, enjoying their many school activities and successes through the years. An accomplished businessman and unassuming gentleman, Jim won the hearts of friends who have described him as funny, a passionate sharer and advocate for his beliefs, thoughtful and generous (such as treating Mary's girlfriends to an annual special lunch date)—as well as extremely appreciative of special help he received on occasion (even offering to reciprocate as he could). In fact, he regularly penned handwritten thank-you notes when someone extended a kindness to him!Further, many of Jim's and Mary's friends have been impressed by his supportiveness of Mary over the years, empowering her to flourish in her career and their community by handling many of the household chores and family responsibilities along the way. His grandchildren would add that he was a wonderful Dandy. Indeed, he will be sorely missed.
Jim is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary, and a loving family, including two grown sons, Matthew of Spring, TX and Michael (wife, Lori) of Georgetown, TX, and Michael and Lori's sons, McClane Thompson (wife, Alexa) of Dallas, Texas and Graham Thompson (wife, Tara) of Atlanta, Georgia —along with his brother, Frank Thompson (wife, Brooksene) of Albuquerque, New Mexico , several nieces, nephews and many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Bill Thompson and sister, Oma Moore.A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, January 26, 2:00 p.m. at Klein Funeral Home ( 16131 Champion Forest Dr, Spring, TX 77379). In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor to Between Jobs Ministry @Northwest Bible Church ( 5503 Fellowship Ln, Spring, TX 77379) would be greatly appreciated.
