James William Swigger's Obituary
James William Swigger, age 76, of The Woodlands, Texas, surrounded by his loving family, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, April 27, 2017.
Jim was born on November 14, 1940 in Charleston, West Virginia to Olivia Faye Marshall and Charles Robert Swigger. He had three loving siblings Betty, Charles, and Judy all whom pre-deceased him.
J im is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Sharon Shrader Swigger, his devoted family, daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Brian Aragon, his son, David Swigger and two very treasured grandchildren, Cameron and Noah Aragon. Additionally, he is survived by his dear brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Carolyn Simpson of St. Albans, West Virginia, and many nieces and nephews.
Jim was a member of The Woodland's First Baptist Church where he faithfully and joyfully volunteered in various ministries. He especially loved the mission ministry serving underfunded grade school classes and the children attending them. He also enjoyed shopping for groceries for weekly meals provided on Wednesday nights for various ministries of the church. His impact on others was significant. He was sincerely appreciated and loved by the many he served.
Golfing, traveling, gardening, genealogy, photography, and spending time with his grandchildren were among his favorite hobbies. Jim had green thumb to rival master gardeners. His beautiful garden will miss his loving care. Family members and his many friends greatly enjoyed his ability to find family histories through genealogy. Jim also possessed the special gift of creating birthday cards for his family and friends. His memory will live on through the many, many cards he lovingly created. Papa Jim, as named by his grandchildren, is particularly loved for the many, many photographs he took of his children, and grandchildren. His photography skills will be profoundly missed at family gatherings.
James William Swigger, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend leaves a legacy of faithfulness to God and immense love for his family, friends, and fellow man. May he rest in peace with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 5, 2017, at Klein Funeral Home located at 1400 Main Street Tomball, TX 77375. The Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 6, 2017, at The Woodland's First Baptist located at 11801 Grogan's Mill Rd, The Woodlands, TX 77380.
