James Calvin Smith, III entered eternal life with Our Lord on November 9th, 2020 in Houston, Texas. He was born in Wharton, Texas on December 19th, 1953. Preceded in death by his father; James Calvin Smith Jr. and his brother Donald Smith. Left to cherish his memory are Rose, his loving wife of 44 years, his mother, Valora Smith; his children, Camille and husband Christian Costlow, Jesse and wife Amber Smith, Isaac Elihu and wife Jeanette Smith; grandchildren, Hannah and husband Kegan Coon, Drew, Joshua and Simon Costlow; Francisco and Alyssa Santiago, Aiden and Kylie Smith; Sister, Camille McClung and many in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calvin faithfully worked in the Oil, Gas and Chemical industry for over 40 years. He was an avid fisherman. He loved blasting all genres of music while driving the open roads in his Chevy Impala. His favorite pastime was hanging-out on his back porch tending to and enjoying his bird sanctuary. Calvin dearly loved his family, his friends and his Heavenly Father. His favorite scripture verse is, "What does the Lord require of you? To do what is right, to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." Micah 6:8.
