James Magee, lovingly known as "Jim" by his friends and family and "Scotty" to old friends, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2024 at the age of 79 in Spring Texas. Surrounded by love, he went to be with his Lord and Savior after a life well lived.

Jim is survived and deeply missed by his devoted wife of 55 years, Marie Magee, and his cherished children and their spouses; Scott (Emily), Heather (Derrick), Shannon (Todd) and Shawna (Bryan). His legacy of love and kindness continues in his eight beloved grandchildren Emma, Jacob, Colin, Trenton, Lauren, Nora, Hudson and Ruby.

In his final days, Jim spent time with his family, sharing laughter, heartfelt conversations and memories. True to his character, he reached out to express his love and gratitude to those who meant the most to him. Though his passing brings sorrow, his family finds comfort knowing he is no longer suffering.

Born on August 3, 1945 to Patrick and Isabella Magee in Airdrie Scotland, Jim immigrated to America with his family at age 9 settling in Stamford Connecticut. He graduated Cum Laude from J. M. Wright Technical School and went on to work as a plumber for American Cyanamid. Several years later he joined the local plumbing Union.

In 1969, Jim married the love of his life, Marie, whom he was introduced to at a mutual friend's party. Together they built a beautiful life, raising four children. In 1976, Jim moved his family to Texas, where he worked most of his career as a master plumber at Rice University, leaving a legacy of dedication and humor.

A simple man, Jim's greatest joy came from spending time with his family and friends. He showed his love through acts of service; working tirelessly to provide for those he cared about. Though he wasn't one to say, "I Love You" often, his actions spoke louder than words, leaving no doubt about the depth of his love. Jim was a man you could always count on ~loyal, steadfast and fiercely devoted to his family, friends, beloved Notre Dame football team, Mets baseball team and the Giants football team.

In his earlier years, Jim made a lasting impact as a coach for football, soccer, softball, and baseball at Inwood Dads Club. Known as "Coach Magee," he treated every child as his own, leaving behind countless lives touched by his leadership and encouragement.

Jim remained steadfast in his Catholic faith throughout his life, praying nightly and inspiring his grandchildren to pray with and for him during his final days. His vibrant stories of his youth captivated the younger generation; his children and grandchildren will carry forward his legacy of love, strength and humor.
